TULUM ATV RENTAL REQUIREMENTS?
As with any other activity, there are certain requirements that you must meet in order to rent an ATV in Tulum. The requirements are not stringent. However, we do have to make sure our customers are following local laws, maximize customer safety, and protect our ATVs. Below you will find the necessary requirements to rent an ATV in Tulum.
VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE
You must have a valid driver’s license in order to rent an ATV in Tulum. Not only does the law require it, but we want to make sure you have a minimum amount of experience driving something so that we know you can follow basic traffic laws.
21+ YEARS OLD
You must be 21 years old in order to rent an ATV in Tulum. Our experience has taught us that renting to someone younger than 21 is a mistake. Of course you will be verifying your age via your driver’s license, so this is not an issue if you are 21+. However, if you are under 21, please keep this in mind.
SOBER & RESPONSIBLE
We cannot rent to drunk people. Moreover, Mexico has very strict laws against driving drunk. A Mexican jail is not where you want to end up during your vacation to Tulum. Not only will you have wasted your vacation behind bars, but you’ll likely have to pay a hefty fine to get out and may be deported back home immediately.
WEAR HELMET
Helmets are mandatory when riding an ATV in Tulum. Mexico created this law in order to reduce serious injuries on the road. While a helmet does not guarantee you won’t get hurt in case of an accident, it is a lot better than nothing. Drive safe. Drive sober. Wear a helmet & follow the law.
DAMAGE DEPOSIT (CASH ONLY)
In order to assure that customers treat our ATVs with respect, we ask for a small damage deposit. This damage deposit must be paid in CASH ONLY. It is refundable at the end of your rental period, so long as you return the scooter in the same condition that you received it.

HOW TO RENT AN ATV IN TULUM?
We have made renting an ATV as easy as we can. Nonetheless there are a number of steps that must be taken so that we can plan ahead to know when you’re coming and to verify availability.
#1 - FILL OUT RESERVATIONS FORM
Start by filling out or reservations form. It asks for minimal information and takes only a few moments to fill out. Name, when you’re coming, how many ATVs you need, and a way to contact you. Simple & fast.
#2 - RECEIVE QUOTATION
Once we receive your request, we will verify availability for your requested days. We will then respond with a quotation and instructions on how to confirm your reservation. Please read the entire quotation carefully as it contains important information.
#3 - RESERVATION DEPOSIT
We ask for a small reservation deposit. In essence, it is a promise to us that you are going to show up for our appointment. No deposit, no reservation! You would be surprised how flaky people get during vacation if they have nothing to lose when blowing off an appointment!
#4 - PICKUP YOUR ATVS
At our scheduled meeting time, you will pick up your Tulum ATV rental. Our pickup locations are both centrally located and convenient. We will bring your rental ATVs with full tanks of gas. We will also bring two helmets per ATV (if you need them). Always remember: Helmets are absolutely mandatory in Mexico. You will be immediately stopped and fined by the police if you are not wearing one.
#5 - PAY REMAINING BALANCE / DAMAGE DEPOSIT
After signing your rental contract, you will need to pay the remaining balance of your rental fee (Total rental fee – reservation deposit = remaining balance). Remaining balance is CASH ONLY. You will also need to pay a $250 USD damage deposit. Again, this needs to be paid in CASH. If you didn’t bring cash with you from your country of origin, you can easily get cash at one of the many ATM machines around town.
#6 - DRIVE AWAY WITH YOUR ATV
After a brief instruction regarding how to operate the ATV you will be ready to drive away. Your adventure has now started. You will be able to create your own vacation story in this fairy tale of a place called Tulum. Your Tulum ATV rental will allow you to visit wherever you want—on your own schedule & not somebody else’s! Pretty simple, right?!?!

In order to make your Tulum ATV rental more enjoyable, there are certain items you may want to bring. These things are entirely optional and based on personal choice. Consequently, we do not provide them with your ATV rental. Nonetheless, we do believe having them will make your experience more fruitful and enjoyable. Here are our most favorable suggestions:
TIGHT SHOES​
Riding a Tulum ATV rental is different than riding a bicycle or casually walking around at the beach. Riding an ATV requires a firm grip on the handlebars and a strong foot posture. A good pair of shoes—tightly fastened—will help you stay balanced and level on your ATV.
SUNGLASSES​
Because of its rapid growth, the roads in Tulum are not all perfect. In fact, many of them are just downright bad. While an ATV is the perfect vehicle to traverse Tulum’s roads, it is helpful to have eye protection while driving. Sunglasses work perfectly during the day. However, they may be too dark at night, so clear safety lenses are recommended.
SMARTPHONE (W/INTERNET)
Technology has completely changed how we move around and get from one place to another. It has also dramatically extended our communication channels to the point where we can contact anyone from almost anywhere. In an emergency, a smartphone can save your life. This is exactly why we recommend that all of our customers bring a smartphone with them when renting an ATV in Tulum.
SUNSCREEN LOTION
How many people do you see in vacation destinations with lobster-color skin from a long day in the sun?!? Unfortunately, far too many. Don’t be one of them. If you know you’re going to be out in the sun, put on a healthy dose of 50+ SPF sunscreen so that you don’t get burned. The top of your head will not get much sun when riding your Tulum ATV rental (because of your helmet). However, the rest of your body will be happy you brought it.
SWIMSUIT
Most people who come to Tulum & the Riviera Maya enjoy visiting the many beaches in the surrounding areas. If you plan on visiting the beaches, be sure to bring your swimsuit. Even if you don’t plan on going swimming, Tulum’s emerald-blue water is devilishly tempting.
